Early Doctoral Student Research Grants

Federal Government is encouraging eligible students to cultivate their research skills while in their process of preparation of research manuscript on housing and urban development issues. For this proposed project, it is very important for the interested candidates to be register for the program at an accredited institution of higher education.

They should have approved dissertation proposal and have complete support from their institutions for space, equipments or tuition waivers. They also should have a capability to assign a faculty advisor for supervising their research manuscript. Grants thus provided should be use for costs involved in the completion of the research manuscript in a timely manner including stipends, for the purchase of data, computer software, and travel expenses for collection of data, transcription services, and compensation for interviews.

You cannot use the grant for tuition, computer hardware, or meals. For the proposed project, applications should produce evidence from their dissertation committee chairman that they have as housing and urban development as a major subject, they should not have given their preliminary/comprehensive examinations; they should have already completed their two semesters or their three terms during their doctoral studies program.

The approval or disapproval of the application time is within the period of 60 days. The announcement of the available of the fund should appear in the Federal register on an annual cycle basis, therefore this program is excludes from coverage under E.O 12372 and OMB Circular No. A-102. Maximum grant given should be $15,000.
The Early Doctoral Student Research Grant program was formulates to give support to the grantees that are doing research on vast range of topics.

Students from any discipline but who can deliver their insight into several research issues pertaining to the housing and community development are welcomed. Some of examples of these issues taken up by students could be providing equal opportunity for every one towards the solution of their housing problems, how citizens can be provides with affordable housing, increasing opportunity for easy procurement of houses, building up strong communities etc.

Requirements of the application would appear in the Federal Register Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) whereby there is no necessity of a State Plan. Applicants who can quickly respond to the NOFA’s announcement and selected by the review panel will be most fortunate to receive a grant. The award gave within the period of 60 days after the submissions of the applications are closed.
